What does it mean to be a Privateer today?
Unlike the swashbuckling pirates sanctioned by navies and private
companies in the 16th century to capture bounty and riches from enemy ships
and protect the private interests of cargo companies, today's Privateer is
one who by choice or circumstance finds himself living outside of "societies
acceptable social norms". Instead of conforming to or accepting what society
or government insists that they should or must do, they choose to live by their
own values, standards and laws. A Privateer does not generally see himself
as a criminal but will not shy away from being called an outlaw. Many times
the individual does not set out to live this type of life, but instead feel that
they have been forced in to making the decision to separate themselves by
what they believe to be an oppressive government, failing society or both.
This seems to be the one common thread between those who choose to live
the path of a Privateer.
Privateers MC was formed in 2001 after a group of friends, all of them
American, most of them disgruntled veterans, saw the opportunity to form a
brotherhood based on their mutual love of their bikes, the Ocean, and the
Constitution of the United States of America. After meeting in the Caribbean,
these men took up the bonds of brotherhood, understanding their common
insight into the future of the nation they once stood to protect. What these
men foresaw, was the sad, slow demise of the democracy through the
abuses of the American people by the Federal Government. With the signing
of the Patriot act in 2001, and the prior events of Ruby Ridge, the massacre
at Waco, and the restrictions placed on the first and second amendments,
came the realization that their rights and freedoms were being destroyed
before their eyes. Since the unconstitutional organization of the Federal
Reserve System in 1913, America has been seemingly doomed to be torn
apart from the inside, by the very government created to protect and uphold
the God-given rights of its people.
All members of the Privateers are Constitutionalists, believing that the
Constitution is not "open to interpretation" but instead that the founding
fathers of the United States, who were intelligent enough to form the strongest
nation in the world, were also intelligent enough to write down exactly what
they meant. Privateers MC believe the Bill of Rights to be a concrete
document with no loop holes or exceptions.
The type of men drawn down this path come from many walks of life, of
course some may be outcasts or adventurers but many would be considered
upstanding members of society, until the decision is forced upon them to
seek a more freedom oriented way of life. The one thing Privateers today and
those of old have in common is that these men do not in any way desire
anarchy or lawlessness but instead seek the freedom to live by basic laws
and the rights given every man to be free from oppression. This path is not
with out consequence many times the individual finds himself in situations that
may be very unfamiliar, uncomfortable, hostile or even life threatening. It is in
these times a Privateer must be able to depend on his brothers in arms to get
him through. Ever since the first Privateers set out to sea, the bonds of
brotherhood have been their strongest asset. Every man has his purpose and
every man is equal, each one brings to the table something just as important
as his brothers on his left and right. The oath taken by each one makes him
part of something bigger than himself, while at the same time allowing him to
stand on his own. Each man sworn by a true oath to always protect, respect,
educate and never harm, nor allow to be harmed, his brothers. An oath to
take up a life long task to defend his brothers and his own right to live free
and un oppressed. A Privateer must have the inner strength, insight and
selflessness to take up this task.......
